St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is situated in the Southern Tablelands at Goulburn. It was founded by the Sisters of St Joseph. We are a Christ-centred community whose mission inspires faith in God, belief in self and others and excellence in education. Our motto, 'Finis Coronat Opus' - the end crowns the work - inspires students, teachers and parents to value the process of learning as much as the product of learning. We have a strong focus on teaching and learning. Literacy and Numeracy development and critical thinking are fundamental elements of our school curriculum. The school has adopted a Student Centred, Inquiry model of pedagogy which has enhanced students and teacher engagement across all curriculum areasAnalysis of our 2018 NAPLAN results indicate a pleasing result in the growth of individual students especially with Year 3 literacy results. Strategies to continue the improvement in writing and grammar and punctuation include teacher professional development and the development of an agreed understanding around quality writing. Tthere has been a steady improvement in individual growth in numeracy, the 2018 results indicate that there is a need for continued focus on development in this area. Strategies to address this include targeted individual intervention in the early years and strategic student grouping and curriculum differentiation in Stages 2 and 3. Students at St Joseph's have the opportunity to be involved in a number of extra curricula activities including participation in the local eisteddfod, gardening clubs, keyboard tuition, and various sporting teams .We have continued to provide an individual music tuition program in partnership with the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium of Music. St Joseph's also provides a warm, personalised atmosphere where each student can learn and grow. Students are encouraged to be kind, friendly, honest, caring and sensitive to the needs and rights of others as well as taking personal responsibility for their actions and decisions. We are proud to be an "MJR" school where "Making Jesus Real" is an integral part of our everyday experiences. Our pastoral care is based upon the teachings of Christ and his request that we "Love one another as I have loved you". Staff, students and parents use restorative justice practices to resolve issues.
